Nursery – Birth through Toddlers
The Grove Avenue Nursery is just the beginning stage of spiritual development for your little one. It is a loving and peaceful environment designed to care for and nurture children from birth through toddler. Because children develop differently, the Nursery is divided by developmental stages rather than age groups. From the Infant Room to the Toddler Room, each classroom is designed to meet your child’s needs.

Parents are recommended to bring a diaper bag and bottle, both labeled with your child’s name. Please feel welcome to bring any comfort items your child might have such as a blanket or favorite toy. You will also want to bring a change of clothes for your child just in case it is needed.

Preschool - 2’s through Kindergarten
We begin with two-year-olds teaching God’s truths. During the 9:15 service we use LIL’K, a video-driven curriculum that provides preschoolers with the transformational truth of God’s Word. Children enjoy a fun and creative classroom environment that incorporates bible stories on DVD, bible memorization, and crafts. During the 11:00 hour we use puppetry, games, songs and center play to reiterate the bible lesson. Preschoolers begin to realize during these early years that church can be fun and God’s love for them is real.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Preschool Department?
Located on the first floor to the left of the sanctuary.

How old does my child have to be to start attending the nursery?
Our recommendation is that your child is at least six weeks old prior to bringing him or her to the nursery.

Will my child have the same teacher each week?
During the 9:15 service, there are dedicated teachers that teach every week. Our second service is handled by parents and volunteers that serve one Sunday every month.

How will you contact me if my child needs me?
During the check-in process, you will be issued a beeper. In the event we need you, the beeper will vibrate.

Is there a private area available for nursing mothers?
Yes. Our Parent/Infant Room is located to the left of the Infant Nursery and is available for both parents to enjoy. There is a private area for moms to nurse. The live broadcast can be enjoyed during the 11:00 service via television.

How does Preschool keep parents involved in their child’s experience at church? Each week your child will be given a Map Book that summarizes that week’s lesson. It includes questions that were discussed that can be used to generate additional discussion at home.

How can I volunteer in Preschool?
Parents who are members of Grove Avenue and have attended for at least 6 months may serve in a variety of ways. There are positions in the classrooms as teachers, co-teachers, greeters at the Check-In Desk, puppeteers/storytellers, music leaders, Extended Session Coordinators and much more. Commitment ranges from every week to just once a month. All our workers must be Safe and Secure trained before serving. In order to adequately fill all the volunteer positions, parents of preschool age children are required to serve during one service on one Sunday each month.

What are the options for children who attend more than one service?
Children from birth through four-years-old remain in the same classroom during both 9:15 and 11:00 service. Although the threes and fours rotate to stations during the second service, parents will still pick them up in the same room they dropped them off at initially. Kindergarteners attend their Sunday School class during the 9:15 hour and then move to Kingdom Kids in Room 105 for the second service.
